Brothers, Make Your Wife Your Closest Companion
When Allah blesses you with a righteous wife, do not allow the responsibilities of life to make you forget the blessing of the person standing beside you.
Your wife is not simply someone who lives in your house, prepares meals, raises your children or shares your bills. She is your companion through a journey neither of you can fully predict. Treat her as your closest friend, your trusted adviser, your partner in decision making and the person with whom you want to share both your achievements and your struggles.
Think about the meaning of companionship. It is easy to be affectionate when life is comfortable, money is available and everything is going according to plan. The real beauty of marriage appears when things become difficult. When your business struggles, when you lose your job, when your health changes or when family responsibilities become overwhelming, your wife should not feel that she has suddenly become a burden.

She should know that she can speak to you honestly, share her concerns and express her feelings without being ridiculed or dismissed. She should feel that you are willing to make decisions with her rather than simply announcing decisions to her.
Being a husband does not mean having to carry every problem alone. Nor does it mean expecting your wife to agree with every decision you make. But understands that seeking his wife’s perspective is a strength, not a weakness. She may notice something you have overlooked, offer an idea you had not considered or help you see a difficult situation differently.
And brothers, do not wait for a special occasion to appreciate her. Thank her for the things she does that you may have started taking for granted. Notice her efforts. Spend time with her without your phone constantly demanding your attention. Ask how she is feeling, not merely what needs to be done around the house.
If you have children, remember that they are watching how you treat their mother. They are learning what love looks like from the way you speak to her, the way you resolve disagreements and the way you support her when she is tired. Your behaviour may teach them more about marriage than any lecture you ever give them.
Of course, your wife will have her own shortcomings, just as you have yours. She will not always understand you perfectly and she will not always get everything right. Neither should you expect her to. What matters is that you both continue to communicate, forgive, improve and turn to Allah for guidance.
Never become so busy asking Allah for more blessings that you forget to thank Him for the blessings already in your life. If He has granted you a wife who sincerely loves you, supports you and wants to build a good life with you, appreciate her while you have the opportunity.
Treat her like a queen, not because she must be placed on a pedestal but because she deserves to feel cherished, respected and secure in the marriage you share.
My dad rahimullah used to say: “A good husband does more than provide a home for his wife. He helps make that home a place where her heart can rest.”
