Bismillah,
As-salamu alaikum. I’m Abas — a Somali-Nordic nomad. Since 2010, I’ve been writing on this blog to share the little I’ve learned with fellow Muslims around the world. This space isn’t about perfection — it’s about intention. My goal is simple: to reflect, grow, and walk with you toward a life of purpose, sincerity, and success in both the Dunya and the Aakhirah, insha Allah. Whether you stumbled upon this blog by accident or have been reading for years, I’m truly grateful you’re here – Jazakallah khair.

Faith & Personal Growth: this blog explores how we can live more meaningfully as Muslims, drawing strength from the Qur’an, Sunnah, and the lives of those who came before us. I write about topics like sincerity, discipline, resilience, and how to balance Deen with the demands of modern life.
Islamic Marriage & Family Life: whether you’re single (like this maskiin-man😉) or already married, I share thoughts on love, relationships, parenting, and navigating marriage through the lens of Islam — especially as Muslims living in the West. The goal? To honour the beauty of our Deen in every stage of life.
Seerah & Reflections: I reflect on timeless lessons from the life of our Prophet Mohamed (PBUH) and the Sahabah — lessons that help us face modern struggles with ancient wisdom. These posts are a reminder that we are never alone in our challenges.
Cybersecurity for Muslims: as someone working in the field of cybersecurity, I share practical advice to help you stay safe online. From digital hygiene tips to securing your online identity, my goal is to protect our Ummah in the digital age, one byte at a time.
I live somewhere in the UK, working as a cybersecurity engineer & consultant, entrepreneur, and charity activist. When I’m not focused on digital security challenges, you’ll find me out exploring the world — capturing the beauty of Islamic history through photography and the beautiful creations of nature that the Creator has made. I’m also passionate about mentoring those looking to enter the cybersecurity field or simply reflecting on life.
Good company, a great book, and deep conversations — that’s my way of recharging. Whether I’m diving into a good book, running to clear my mind, or spending quality time with friends and family, I strive to balance my professional hustle with moments of reflection and growth. I’m always seeking to reconnect with what truly matters.
I’ve had the blessing of photographing many historical Islamic sites — from Granada and Valencia in Spain to Istanbul, Cairo, Lahore in Pakistan, Delhi, Kuala Lumpur, Singapore, Kosovo, Albania, and beyond. Through my lens, I aim to preserve the visual legacy of Islam, especially its rich and often forgotten presence in Europe.
Photography isn’t just a hobby for me — it’s a form of storytelling, a bridge between generations, and a way to reconnect hearts with our shared heritage.
When I’m not behind the camera or working with security systems, you’ll find me hiking, horse riding, or practicing boxing and karate. These hobbies keep me balanced — spiritually, mentally, and physically.
And when the rare UK summer decides to show up (yes, it really does sometimes!), my “office” setup takes a sunnier turn. Whether I’m on a work from home (WFH) shift or simply enjoying some free time, you’ll most likely find me working from a local park rather than staying indoors — laptop open, powerbank ready, and seated comfortably on a handmade chair I proudly built myself – don’t forget to say masha Allah Abas -😉. Add to that a long Somali thermos filled with strong, fragrant shah (tea), and I’m basically living like someone on a relaxed day off in Venice, Italy — except I’m just in a quiet corner of a British park.
If you spot me there, don’t ask questions — just grab a cup (I’ve got plenty of spare ones, trust me!). The tea’s free — and if you like it sweet like a proper Somali, there’s organic honey straight from Somalia, or white and brown sugar on standby. But if you prefer it plain and serious like the old British, well… you can skip the honey/sugar and sip it like you mean it. But please, make sure to include me in your duas, because, that tea is something special,😉.

I created this space to be more than just another corner of the internet. This blog is a mirror, a map, and sometimes a messy notebook — a place where I share life’s lessons, mistakes, insights, and reminders. It’s for those of us trying to navigate faith, relationships, careers, and inner battles — with sincerity and strength.
If any of this resonates with you, welcome. Let’s walk this path of reflection, growth, and purpose — together, bi idhnillah.
If you ever want to ask something, share a thought, or just say Salaam — don’t hesitate. I’d love to hear from you: salam@abasnur.com
